Buyer Beware

The location of a mooring cannot be sold. Only the weight, chain, buoy are the property of the seller. The actual spot is the property of the Crown (commonly referred to as "the Queen's Bottom") and the licence in essence gives permission for the mooring hardware (and boat) to be there. Bear this in mind when 'buying' an existing mooring. There is a tendency to attach a value to the location of a mooring but ultimately there are no rights to that spot.
